
Sybil Lassiter
Sybil M. Lassiter is the author of two previous books: (1) Multicultural Clients: A professional handbook for Health professionals and Social Workers and (2) Cultures of Color in America: A guide to family, religion, and health. She was recently honored with a listing in the literary publication, “Contemporary Authors.” She was also cited in Who’s Who in American Women (18th Edition, 1993-1994).
Dr. Lassiter is a retired Associate Professor of Nursing who has taught nursing students at two major universities for twenty years. She trained at Bellevue Schools of Nursing in New York for her RN, received a BS in Nursing Education from Hunter College, an MS in Education from St. Johns’ University, and a Ph.D. in Nursing Theory from New York University.
Lassiter has performed several research projects (some funded) and spoken at various conferences on topics such as cultural diversity, androgyny, health care issues, and the aging process. Her earlier professional experiences include Consultant in Drug and Health Education for New York State, Instructor at Schools of Nursing in Brooklyn and Flushing, Public School Teacher of Sex Education, School Nurse Teacher, and Public Health Nurse. She acquired her bedside nursing experiences at various general hospitals, a State mental hospital, nursing homes, visiting nursing, and Home Health Care agencies.
Dr. Lassiter presently resides in a Villa of an active, independent adult community (55 years and older) located in Huntersville, North Carolina. She has three adult children and four grandchildren who live in New York, Georgia and North Carolina.
