The Hand of Divine Justice By Therese Dvir

The Hand of Divine Justice By Therese Dvir

The Hand of Divine Justice is based on a true story. The saga begins shortly before World War II, in Marrakech, Morocco, an exotic place in Northwest Africa. At the time, there was a very large Jewish community that had voluntarily isolated itself behind walled-ramparts in Marrakech for economic, religious, and cultural reasons. Some members of the community are very rich, while others are very poor. Among the latter is a set of twins, Miriam and Moise, who are orphaned after the death of their poverty-stricken parents. Miriam has a yen for an education at an early age, but, in pursuing her dream, she falls prey to a rich young man who is older than she. As a consequence, a complicated human story about money, power, love, religion, war, and betrayal develops. Two families, the Sarfatis and the Marcianos, along with the entire Jewish community, are caught up in a drama that affects not only their lives but also the lives of succeeding generations. Ultimately, this novel is also a story about redemption, justice, and hope.
